University of the West takes pride in offering a unique educational experience. Founded in 1991 by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, University of the West is dedicated to the values character, compassion, and community.

The university is committed to graduating students with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve their educational, professional, personal, and spiritual goals and to perpetuate the university’s values as cornerstones in creating a better world. University of the West is a Buddhist-affiliated university, but we are dedicated to educating people of all faith backgrounds.

University of the West does not participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program. The direct and indirect costs of programs can be covered through other Veterans' Affairs benefit programs.

Yes, University of the West is a GI Bill approved school. However, you will need to check with the school to ensure that your preferred degree program is covered by the GI Bill.

As a private school, their tuition is less than the amount covered by the GI Bill annually.  Please check with the school to ensure how much coverage you may receive.  As a private school, they may have other programs to help offset the difference between their tuition and the GI Bill.
