University of the West takes pride in offering a unique educational experience. Founded in 1991 by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, University of the West is dedicated to the values character, compassion, and community.

The university is committed to graduating students with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve their educational, professional, personal, and spiritual goals and to perpetuate the university’s values as cornerstones in creating a better world. University of the West is a Buddhist-affiliated university, but we are dedicated to educating people of all faith backgrounds.

University of the West does not participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program. The direct and indirect costs of programs can be covered through other Veterans' Affairs benefit programs.
