Student veterans and military affiliated students at Xavier have access to the Veteran and Military Family Center which provides modern facilities and infrastructure, dedicated advising and career counseling services, and a mentorship program that enhances their experience at Xavier and facilitates success within the values of the Jesuit tradition.

Xavier University and the Veteran and Military Family Center are regularly recognized nationally for their programs and support for veterans and military affiliated students. These rankings take many aspects of the University and the VMFC into account, which means that being recognized is another way we can validate that we live our mission: to provide world-class personalized service to all of our student veterans and military affiliated students.

The staff of the Veteran and Military Family Center consists of 5 dedicated team members that are ready and able to provide assistance to students from the moment they express interest in applying to the University until they walk across the stage at graduation and beyond as they become members of Xavier's Alumni Network. Each team member is focused on a functional area such as admissions or VA Educational benefits to provide that specialized service to student veterans and military affiliated students.

Xavier offers many programs, including over 90 undergraduate majors/concentrations and 60 minors as well as graduate programs offered in 30 areas.

Scholarships for military affiliated students at Xavier

  • Emily Barbero Memorial Veterans Scholarship

Those eligible for this scholarship are pursuing degrees in either the Data Science or the Philosophy, Politics, and the Public programs. Limited to full-time Xavier students who are either honorably discharged Veterans or military-affiliated students (the immediate family members of either a veteran or serving military member).

  • David Joyce Scholarship

24 scholarships of $2,000 per semester for any GE Aviation employee or employee's dependent with preference for veteran or military affiliated status.

VA Work Study position in the Veteran and Military Family Center

  • Military affiliated students who are actively utilizing a VA Education Benefit are eligible
  • Work up to 20 hours per week while enrolled in classes
  • Opportunity to develop professional skills
  • Positions span the length of the academic year
  • Carry a range of responsibilities: Undergraduate Veteran Outreach Coordinator, Undergraduate Military Family Outreach Coordinator, Graduate Veteran and Military Family Outreach Coordinator, Benefit Processing Assistant, and Marketing Coordinator
